Easy Hamburger Casserole

Ingredients
  

  • 1 package macaroni & cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion or 1 teaspoon onion powder or onion salt if you use the onion salt do not add the regular salt also
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 cups tomato I prefer tomato sauce but you can use what you have on hand.
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 green pepper chopped optional

Instructions
 

  • Bring 4 cups of water to a boil, add 1 teaspoon oil to the water. After the water is boiling add the macaron. Reduce the heat so it maintains a steady boil and boil for about 5 minutes.
  • While the macaroni is boiling brown the ground beef with the onion and green pepper. Once it is browned turn your burner to medium-low. Drain the macaroni and add it to the ground beef. Add the packet of cheese sauce, the tomato, salt, pepper, brown sugar, and ketchup.
  • Bring the mixture to a simmer (low boil) stirring occasionally for about 5 minutes. Then turn your burner on low and leave it until you are ready to serve. If it looks like there is not enough liquid add a little water or tomato juice.

Notes

If you like you can place this in a crockpot on low and then serve it when you are ready or place it in the oven on 300° until ready to serve. Or you can serve it right away.
